Tony Groves

Co Founder, Curriculum & Development Strategist

Tony’s passion for leadership is forged from experience — 16+ years in military, intelligence, and high-risk environments, leading teams where execution meant survival.

He began as a 17-year-old infantry soldier, later specialising in Human Intelligence (HUMINT), intelligence operations, and risk management. His deployments to Timor-Leste, Iraq, and Afghanistan shaped his leadership under extreme pressure — building and leading high-performing teams in volatile, high-stakes environments.

Armed with a Master’s in Counter-Terrorism Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership, Tony’s journey has also been deeply personal. Overcoming PTSD, depression, and alcoholism, he brings a rare depth of insight, empathy, and resilience to his work with leaders.

Tony founded HALO Training to transform leadership from theory to execution. Drawing on battlefield-tested lessons and HUMINT expertise, he equips leaders to act decisively under pressure, build trust, and deliver results — especially when it matters most.

His mission is clear: strengthen leadership across Aotearoa by training leaders who don’t just understand leadership — they execute it.
